How to do promo apps for colonization

This is the tutorials for how to set up installable games with Colonization banners wrapped around it.

Step 1: Myspace Account
Set up a myspace account if you don't already have one

Step 2:Myspace Developer Credentials
In order to set up installable games for Colonization you will need to have your Developer Credentials.To obtain this go to MySpace Open Platform: Create MySpace Appswhile being logged into myspace. Click build than apply. You must use a valid email address because they will need you to comformation. When asked what company use MMRPG - MMORPG Games - Forum for Games - FairGamers - Powered by vBulletin After you have been accepted you can make the installable games.It usually takes about a day to be approved.

Step 3:Embed Code
We need to select a game and set the embed code to our banner. Find a good site with alot of game with embeded codes. One of my Favorite sites is AddictingGames - Embed Games Select a game and copy the embed code to a notepad document. The embed code will look like this

We need to clean it up by removing some adverts and resizing it so that our banners look clean around it. Should look like this:

What we did was delete a bunch of unwanted adverts off the end of it, as well as changing the size of the game to w=500 h=480.
Now that we have a resized, clean game embed code and no we can put banners around it.

Step 4:Banners

Now we are going to add some script(aka the banners) before and after the embed code.It should look like this..

What we have done here is sandwich the embed code in between the Colonization Banners.Copy the whole script above and replace the example embed code with the one you trimmed and resized.
Now that you have the source code, you can start building the app on myspace.

Step 5: Building the App
Go back over to the MySpace Open Platform: Create MySpace Apps and build the app. Click build than fill in the app title.
Each app has to have their own email, but they don't have to be actual emails. What I normally do is use the name of the game @gmail.com.
Set up a password. I use the same one for all the apps so that it's easier to remember.
Accept the terms and conditions and proceed to the bot check.
Next we are going to paste the bannered, trimmed and resized code into the "HTML/Javascript source" box under the "Edit App Source" tab.
Then click save.Now scroll down and click view development version." if you did it right, all the banners should look flush with the game.

Step 6: App Info/Pictures

We are going to add a picture to the app. You will need a program that can resize images. I like to use it is free and easy to use.

We need to find 2 thumbnails to use as a pic. This is a good souce for pictures.Google Images
Do a search that is relevant to your game. Such as a gun, a ball, a bat,a soldier etcrefine the search to only show small images.
Click on the one you like, then click "see origional image" up at the top.
Once you see your image, right click on it and select "save image as" and save it somewhere where you will remember it. I like to rename my images to nameofthegame_small.jpg and nameofthegame_large.jpg for ease of use.
We need to resize the images with irfanview to comply with myspace regulations.
Open the small image with irfanview.
Click "image" then "resize/resample"
Resize the pic to 16X16 pixels
Save the new, resized file over the old one.
Repeat that process with nameofthegame_large.jpg, but resize to 64X64 pixels.
Head back over to the app info section and add title and description.
add large and small pic.
select your primary and secondary catagory. i use games and fun stuff, respectivly.
Ignore everything else and click save.
Now you need to go over to the "my apps" area and click "publish". Now we just need to wait for myspace to approve the app. When they do, it will be listed as "live"
Once the status changes to "pending," move on to the game profile.

Don't worry! You are almost done!!!

Step 7: Myspace App Profile

Now we are going to put one more Colonization banners in the app profile.
Log out of your normal account and log back in with the email and password you selected in the beginning of step 5.
Click on "edit profile"in the "about me" section do a small description of the game. "Shoot bad guys as a sniper!!!" is fine. no need to get into the nitty-gritty details of the game.
After the period of your description sentence, add "<br>". this makes the profile skip a line before the banner.
then add this code:

Let's test it and make sure it looks good, then save it.
Now all you have to do is wait! usually takes a day or so for them to approve it.

This is a tedious thing to learn, but once you get good at it, you can do many in a short amount of time, earning you a ton of easy points and status...programmers are rare and doing these games really helps the game grow.
There is a limit of four per day.

And then a code to put in the profile of the app

After your app has gone "Live." Post your OAuth Consumer Key or url of your game, Your Colonization game name and game id #. Do not apply if you cannot figure out how to properly make an app!
